The Ubud Monkey Forest, officially known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, is a revered natural and cultural landmark located in the heart of Ubud, Bali. Spanning approximately 27 acres, this lush sanctuary is home to over 700 long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) and serves as a living testament to Bali’s rich biodiversity and spiritual heritage.

The forest boasts a diverse array of flora, with over 115 species of trees, many of which hold sacred significance in Balinese Hinduism. Visitors can observe the playful macaques in their natural habitat, engaging in behaviors such as grooming, playing, and foraging. While the monkeys are accustomed to human presence, it’s important to adhere to guidelines: avoid feeding them, refrain from touching, and secure personal belongings, as the monkeys may attempt to grab items.
